Poincaré Engineering

We design vectorial electromagnetic fields that focus magnetoelectric interactions (E∙B) on the nanometer scale as a probe for axion matter. Surface plasmons can be Poincaré engineered to dress proximate materials via Floquet mechanism and encode quantum information on the nano-femto scales.

Nanofemto E∙B fields

Plasmonic vortices are found to host pseudo-scalar E∙B fields that are odd under parity 𝒫 and time 𝒯 inversion, but even under the joint 𝒫𝒯 symmetry, enabling them to drive the magnetoelectric response and act as a source of the axion field. We show the circulating plasmonic k vectors and the magnitude and sign of their corresponding pseudo-scalar E∙B field.
